School Reunion
Uppingham School host an annual dinner for past students and this year I was asked to photograph the celebrations. It was held at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hyde Park. Another wonderful venue that has been very much part of my career over the last 25 years. I recall shooting here once for Vogue in the late 90’s and having an argument with a jealous husband who took offence to me spending so long photographing his wife’s skirt. The arrogance of my youth and the grandeur of my client all shielding me from any threat this man posed.
Well this school reunion was an absolute blast and I think the photographs say it all. This is my favourite environment to be shooting in. Fun, relaxed, happy people who enjoy being photographed and are keen to play along. The Old Uppinghamians are a lovely, hilarious crowd who are an utter pleasure to be amongst. Photographing the guests all having fun is sheer joy. I love the fact there are young guests in their early twenties and some old boys in their 80’s I believe and all appear to be constantly laughing, grinning and enjoying life. Oh and you may spot Phil Spencer from ‘Location, Location, Location’ in there somewhere. No Kirsty however.
